Merchant Ratings in Google AdWords
I recently noticed that Google is now adding merchant ratings to Google AdWords listings. The link within the ad leads directly to the Google products seller rating page.
I have seen a few ads in the “premium slots” that have contained a ratings link as well. The ads with rating information stand out significantly. I have not seen one with the Google checkout icon and the rating link yet, but if those are in existence, the CTR of those ads could be huge.
Multiple Google AdWords Ads
Google does not allow one company to have multiple listings on one search term. Even if the company is using two different accounts, with two different website URLs, if the offer is similar, then then accounts are in violation according to the policy. Having more than one listing in the search results can be huge for a company and generate significant revenue by almost performing a roadblock (when one advertiser takes over multiple ad slots on a webpage). I reported and advertiser who was violating the rules and was told that the offerings were just “different” enough to not be a violation.
Using PPC to Find a Job in Sports
As I was checking my email (I use Gmail) the other day, I noticed an ad for an NFL Free Agent. The email I was reading was from my son’s flag football coach so the ad that was displayed was somewhat targeted correctly. Philip Riley, a long snapper, tight end and fullback, set-up a website filled with videos of game footage and workouts and was running a paid search campaign via Google AdWords to drive interest. I couldn’t find any search terms that Phil (or his agent/management team) was bidding on via search, so he could be just using the content network.
