Effective Retargeting Tactics

I’ve been doing online marketing for over a decade. The changes that have been made in targeting over that period of time has been amazing. The costs associated with demographic bidding tactics has gone from being expensive to nearly free (Google AdWords) in the past few years. Ad networks are offering more and more targeting abilities. It seems as if a new company comes up with a new idea on a daily basis.

Today, June 14th, was the day to pre-order an iPhone 4. Apple decided to enable ordering during the middle of the night when most people on the East coast were asleep and by the time I woke up at 6 AM, the site was already having issues. I jumped over to the AT&T website and tried to order there, but had similar issues. I spent the morning trying to order from the Apple website with no luck. I even downloaded the Apple Store App and tried to place an order. Around 11 AM I went to the Apple Store at Crabtree Mall in Raleigh and found no indication of preparation of handling in-person iPhone pre-orders. I kinda wandered around the store and tried to figure out who to ask.

I recently read Rework By David Heinemeier Hansson and Jason Fried. They are the geniuses behind the amazing 37 Signals line-up of productivity tools. I use Basecamp daily for not only organizing my work tasks, but also a number of personal items.

Rework is a great book to read if you want to get more out of your workday. Nothing in the book is revolutionary, but the ideas will get you get you back to basics or set you on the right path.
